Hello
this is Jennifer again from
http://www.ilovebeingamom.com and I’m back this week because I wanted to
speak about the age group of 10-12 months about the activities. Your baby
is really on the go now and I just wanted to get out there and make sure
that you do baby proof your house because the baby is going to be walking
and crawling and officially the time has begun where you will be running
after that them.
One
big thing is to get the outlet covers because their little hands love to go
straight for the outlet covers; I’ve learned this with both of my ladies.
Those things seem like an attraction to them so definitely get those. Make
sure if you have any sharp edges on say your coffee table, your couches, any
corners in your kitchen to put those little, you can get them at Home Depot
or Lowe’s or probably even Wal-Mart in the baby section.
They
are really cool they are corner covers and they are plastic and that is in
case the baby comes up to the corner they will rub against that plastic
where as the sharp edge is where if there wasn’t the plastic there they
could get really hurt and possibly cut their head or run into it and get a
bad bruise so that’s another thing.
Also
another thing is to make sure there is no stools around because baby’s love
to climb. As soon as they hit that stage where they are on the go they will
climb anything. My girls would find their potty chair to climb on, a stool
I used to get into the top cupboards they would get that to climb on and
then they would start getting up onto the cabinets and getting pens or
anything and start drawing on the walls, that’s a favorite pastime when you
are in this house.
Anyways, I just wanted to make that clear that you definitely, actually
before the 10 month age to do your baby proofing because it’s just amazing
what little kids can get into it. We do try to watch them 24/7 but if you
just turn your back for one second they will go after something so I just
wanted to make that clear to you also.
Also
a favorite activity of the 10-12 month old was the leap frog table. I love
leap frog, I’m not that big into electronic toys but the leap frog is like I
get to sit down and encourage them and be a part of it and the girls just
love leap frog. The leap frog table has several activities and it’s low
enough to where they can stand up to play on it and even if they are not
able to stand up on their own yet, you can take the legs off the leap frog
table and put it on the floor where they can just sit down and play with
it.
They
can learn their shapes, their ABC’s, their numbers and you can sit them and
guide along with them and reintegrate what the leap frog table is doing. Of
course don’t spend all day on that but just sit down and take a few minutes
each day and have some bonding time and spending time with them. Also
another activity is building blocks. Do not get the small little legos
because that is a choking hazard but they do have the big blocks, it’s
probably about four or five times bigger than the small little legos.
They
love to stack stuff now. Even the different colors will draw their
attention in. They will grab, and or they can stack or build. Also the
cardboard stacking blocks, you can get them at Wal-Mart or order them from
http://www.lilianvernon.com. You get about 24 and they come in red,
blue, yellow and green and they are big enough where you can stack them
pretty high and they can knock them down. That’s a favorite pastime of
kids.
This
is just a couple of activities that I wanted to let you know since our
children are on the go now. Our life is officially changed and also please
remembers to baby proof your house because our little ones will get into so
many things. Ok well that’s a wrap for this session and I will see you all
again and hold those baby’s tight.
