Jen Houck: Hi there it’s Jennifer from www.ilovebeingamom.com back again with another segment of talking about babies activities. This week I’m going to talk about babies four to six months old. When your baby reaches four months old, they begin to get more interactive with you and there are different activities that you can be interactive with them back.
My baby started sitting in an exer-saucer at four months old. I’m sort of off sense about an exer-saucer because some parents just put there babies in the exer-saucer and just leave them in there like it’s there babysitter. I don’t agree with that at all. When you put them in there leave them in there maybe 10 to 15 minutes max and be there with them to interact with them. Play with the toys around the exer-saucer; show them the different colors or the different activities.
Usually there is a rolly ball they can learn to roll or some kind of figurine that is sticking up with vibrant colors that gets their attention that they can move back and forth.
Another activity because your babies are starting to grab for toys now is called Peak – a – Blocks and they have different animals like the giraffe for instance is one that my babies love and it just stands up tall and they pick up the blocks and put the peak – a - block into the giraffe and it makes a noise when it gets to the bottom. My little girls just kept doing that over and over and get the biggest smile on their face and the blocks would always have some kind of learning experience with them.
It would like have water inside of it or different designs that would get their attention. There is like a Noah’s ark boat that you can play peak – a – block with. There are several different ones that if you want to go on the www.fisherprice.com you can see all the peak – a – blocks there. Another one is just put the baby on the floor because they are just starting to sit up now.
Get different toys like teething toys, or play keys or building blocks and just put it around them and let them try to grab for it. Put it back just a little distance, maybe a foot in front of them so they will be able to reach for it and grab for them. And then just keep doing that, practice with them and it keeps their cognitive skills going and their brain working to learn different skills all the while they are having fun too.
So this is just different activities that you can do with your children aged four to six months. Thanks and I will see you next time with another age group.
