As I touch your tiny footprint,
I think back to the day you were born.
With your face next to mine, eyes closed, and warm.
Tears fall down my cheek.
I am unable to speak
The words I cannot seek,
Oh my love, my gentle sweet.
I held you to my heart,
Not wanting to part.
Not for a moment, not for a minute.
You were born not of my soul, but in it.
I gave you life,
You gave me hope.
Together we bonded in love.
A miracle from up above.
Now you have a child,
A love all your own.
My sweet little baby
Has finally grown.
No words can describe
The pride and the joy,
As I gently touch the footprint
Of my beautiful baby boy.
Oh, this little baby footprint
So delicate and small,
Daily beckons me to it,
To recall…to recall…to recall.
